Finally, October 31 arrived!

This was the final day of my October preparation schedule, and honestly, October turned out to be quite an experience. It was hectic, demanding and sometimes exhausting, but also one of the most productive months of my GATE CSE 2027 preparation.

I managed to wrap up four subjects during this month, including two subjects that were completely new to me.

However, before getting into my overall October reflection, let's talk about how the final day went.

A Slow Saturday Morning

Saturday started a little differently than my usual study days.

Dad was home, and whenever family members are around, mornings at our house tend to be a little more relaxed and playful. There are conversations, random activities and plenty of distractions.

So, naturally, studying didn't start early.

I eventually finished freshening up and having breakfast before sitting down with my Compiler Design notes.

My plan was to complete as much pending work as possible before preparing the November schedule on Sunday.

Completing Syntax-Directed Translation Notes

I picked up my Compiler Design notes and continued from where I had left off.

My first target was Chapter 2: Syntax-Directed Translation (SDT).

I managed to complete the notes for the entire chapter.

This was a good start because I had already completed the notes for Chapter 1, covering Lexical Analysis and Syntax Analysis, on the previous day.

With Chapter 2 completed, I moved closer to having the entire Compiler Design syllabus organised into proper revision material.

Mirzapur: The Movie and Compiler Design Notes!

During lunchtime, I decided to watch Mirzapur: The Movie on Amazon Prime.

But there is a little context behind this.

I was actually making Compiler Design notes while watching the movie.

ChatGPT was experiencing some downtime on my laptop, which was slowing down my usual workflow for creating notes and generating images. Since I had to wait longer than usual for things to work, I ended up watching the movie alongside my note-making.

So, it wasn't exactly a complete afternoon away from studying.

Although I wouldn't call it my most productive study session, I did continue making progress.

Sometimes technology decides to take an unscheduled holiday right when you need it most!

An Evening Cooking Experiment: Besan Kofta!

In the evening, I started working on the notes for Chapter 3: Code Generation and Code Optimization.

However, studying wasn't the only activity on Saturday.

I decided to prepare besan kofta for dinner.

I had seen a YouTube recipe and tried following it. The final result was actually delicious, so the cooking experiment was successful overall.

There was just one small issue: the curd didn't mix properly the way I had seen in the video.

Apparently, watching a cooking tutorial and executing it in your own kitchen are two different things. Much like watching lectures and solving GATE questions!

Still, the kofta tasted great, and that's what mattered.

After preparing dinner, I had my meal and returned to studying.

Two More Compiler Design Lectures Completed

After dinner, I continued with Compiler Design Chapter 3.

I managed to complete two lectures from the chapter.

There are still two lectures remaining, so the entire chapter isn't finished yet.

Nevertheless, completing two lectures after everything else that happened during the day felt like a decent way to end October.

What About DBMS?

Now comes the part that I couldn't complete according to my original October target.

Although I have completed all the DBMS lectures, the notes are still untouched.

I initially wanted to complete the entire DBMS subject by October 31, including the necessary note-making work.

However, that didn't happen.

I don't want to mark DBMS as completely prepared just because all its lectures are finished. I still need to organise the material and prepare notes so that revision becomes easier later.

The same applies to the remaining Compiler Design work.

Instead of rushing through everything just to meet the October deadline, I've decided to carry forward the unfinished work.

I'll prepare a fresh November schedule on Sunday and include these pending tasks in it.

If anything remains unfinished after that, I'll treat it as unofficial backlog and continue working on it during November.

October: Four Subjects Wrapped Up!

Now that October is officially over, I want to take a moment to reflect on the month as a whole.

I'm quite satisfied with the schedule I followed.

It was genuinely hectic, especially while managing office responsibilities alongside my GATE preparation.

But it was also a very productive experience.

During October, I managed to wrap up four subjects, two of which were completely new to me.

There were long lectures, extensive note-making sessions, pending work, and days when managing everything felt difficult.

But overall, the schedule worked quite well.

One thing I particularly liked was that I managed to maintain progress even while working a regular job.

Not every day was perfect, and I didn't complete every target exactly as planned. However, the overall progress was much better than I could have expected at the beginning of the month.

I'm happy with how October turned out.

November: A New Phase of Preparation

Tomorrow is Sunday, and I'll use the day to prepare my November study schedule.

The plan is to start following the new schedule from Monday, November 2.

I'll include the remaining Compiler Design work and DBMS notes so that the unfinished October tasks don't remain neglected.

November will also require a different approach to preparation.

I've spent considerable time completing lectures and covering the syllabus. Now I need to focus more on making the completed subjects ready for revision and practice.

But I'll figure out the exact schedule tomorrow.

Day 48: October Comes to an End

And that's a wrap on October!

Day 48 wasn't particularly extraordinary in terms of study hours or completed targets. The morning started slowly, I watched a movie while making notes, prepared besan kofta for dinner and eventually completed two Compiler Design lectures at night.

It was an ordinary Saturday with a mixture of studying and personal activities.

But October as a whole was special.

Four subjects completed, two completely new subjects explored, and plenty of lessons learned along the way.

I'm satisfied with the schedule I followed, and I'm looking forward to planning the next phase of my GATE CSE 2027 preparation.

October is officially over. November, here we come!

What do you think?

Studying for GATE is less lonely when we're all figuring it out together.
