OS
Operating Systems
Second revision pass — current focusOS is where I've spent the most hours so far, and also where I've had the most "wait, I don't actually get this" moments. Process scheduling and memory management read simply in a textbook, and then fall apart the moment a PYQ asks you to trace through an actual scenario.
I'm currently revising deadlocks and memory management a second time, after a mock test showed me my first pass was surface-level at best.
Topics I'm covering
- Process Scheduling — FCFS, SJF, Round Robin, Priority
- Process Synchronization & Semaphores
- Deadlocks — detection, prevention, avoidance
- Memory Management & Paging
- Virtual Memory & Page Replacement
- File Systems
- Disk Scheduling
PYQ notes
Scheduling numericals and deadlock / banker's algorithm questions are the two areas I'm drilling hardest, since they show up almost every attempt.
From the journey
No journey entries for Operating Systems yet — I'll link them here as I actually get to it. See the full journey in the meantime.
